500 Hour YTT Curriculum

Yoga History, Philosophy, Lifestyle, & Ethics 

Study the lineage of history where yoga emerged from. Dive deep into the exploration & study of the Yoga Sutras and excepts from the Bhagavad Gita. Learn how to incorporate ancient philosophies into your life, in an ethical and sustainable manner, that compliments your current belief system.

Ayurveda, Yoga's Sister Science

As part of your prerequisite material for this program, you will be completing your online Introduction to Ayurveda Program.  During your contact hours, we will be reviewing and deepening this material. 

Creating a Space For Transformation 

Create space for your transformation through daily exploration, self-inquiry, group discussions and 1-1 time with facilitators. This module focuses on self-development anchored in roots of yoga, 6 Bodies of MSYI (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Energetic, Intellectual, and Spiritual), and study of 'Simple and Effective Coaching Tools'.

3) Posture Summary & Sanskrit Guide 

In addition to daily asana practices, practice teaching and posture break-outs, you receive a detailed asana manual that summarizes over 108 yoga postures. This includes the main benefits, modifications and contraindications of each posture, a Sanskrit pronunciation guide and a common Sanskrit glossary.

4) Effective Teaching Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative & Gentle Hatha

You're here to learn how to teach yoga, right? In this module you will learn and practice valuable tools and a teaching methodology that supports you in becoming an unscripted and powerful teacher, with the ability to speak to each and every student in your class. You will explore the use of your voice, oral language, body language, visualization, ability to connect with your students confidently through verbal cues, the use of props, effective demonstration, and acute observation. You will also learn how to provide safe, and effective physical adjustments for every body.  You will learn how to teach effective, creative and safe Vinyasa, Yin and Gentle Hatha Yoga Classes.

5) Yoga Fundamentals 

You will explore the theory, practice and teaching of Pranayama, Chanting, Mantra, Mudras, and Meditation. Also, how to effectively teach each one of these with the incorporation of the tools from Module 4.

6) Functional Anatomy & Physiology 

Anatomy can be daunting to the best of us. During your program, you will receive hands-on and interactive anatomy training each day.  Learn how to move your own body, and your students' bodies in a safe and function manner.






7) Prana Yoga Massage & Physical Assists 

This module combines Prana Yoga Theory, Energetic Principals, and Anatomy.  Learn how to support your students in the way they need to evolve their practice and enhance their experience of their asana practice.

8) Class Formats & Safe Sequencing 

You will explore popular styles of yoga, including power yoga (vinyasa yoga), gentle yoga, and Yoga Nidra (Sleep Yoga). You will incorporate learnings from Module 5 and 6 to learn the principles of asana sequences and how to safely create your own powerful yoga class formats. You will be certified to teach vinyasa, yin, restorative and gentle hatha sequences.   You will also learn how to format your own meditations and yoga nidra scripts.

9) Specialized Teaching

You will learn how yoga supports the healing of common injuries, illnesses and life-changes (such as pregnancy and menopause). To learn how to foster a connection of healing with your students you will learn how to incorporate skills learned from previous modules: Asana, Pranayama, Mantra, Mudra, yoga history, and simple coaching techniques. 

10) Modern Nutrition From Ancient Practice

In this module you will learn basic nutrition do's and don'ts, and how to incorporate 'ahimsa' into your nutrition when it comes to dieting and cleansing. Learn how to add balance to your lifestyle through simple practices from each of these ancient modalities.

11) Energies of Yoga

This module explores the subtle energies of yoga, including: Chakras, Nadis, Prana, Vayus and The 5 Sheaths. You will discover how each one currently contributes to yoga, and healing through the 6 Bodies of MSYI.

12) Launch Your Yoga Career with Success 

Learn how to effectively cultivate and preserve abundance through your yoga teaching career. Leave your training with a complete resume to immediately begin marketing yourself as a professional Yoga Teacher. You will receive training and have an opportunity to create your 'brand'; and learn how to build your own website! You will leave this training equipped to teach the most popular styles of asana, and be prepared and ready to offer your own workshops and retreats!
